County history says the current detention center was built in 1987 after the earlier detention center operated in the building now used by the Princess Anne Police Department. The FAQ dress code bars mini skirts, short shorts, halter tops, bathing suits, tank-top shirts, tube tops, and other revealing clothing that staff deem improper. The brochure also says only visitors on the inmate list may visit unless the Warden or Assistant Warden permits otherwise, no cell phones are allowed in the building, no visitation occurs on approved county holidays, and rule violations can suspend visitation for 30 days.
