Somerset County Jail Roster
The Somerset County Detention Center page is the official starting point for county jail inmate records. It links to the BlueHorse inmate lookup and also publishes jail rules for visits, commissary, phone accounts, and digital mail. The facility holds people in pretrial status, people serving local sentences, people held without bond, and people held for other jurisdictions.
Research on June 17, 2026 found that command-line inspection of the BlueHorse roster returned an expired certificate note and HTTP 403, so the roster form and live profile fields were not captured from accessible text. The roster still remains the county-published online path. When it fails or lacks the needed detail, call SCDC at 410-651-9223 or 410-651-9224, use the Sheriff's Public Information Act page, or search Maryland VINE for notification.
The jail roster should not be used for every Somerset County inmate record. Eastern Correctional Institution is a state prison in the county, but its sentenced prisoners are searched through the Maryland DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator. Federal sentenced prisoners use BOP. Immigration detainees use ICE ODLS. Federal pretrial custody questions may involve the U.S. Marshals Service.

Several identifiers are confirmed by the county even though the online roster profile was not captured. These are the fields families most often need after finding a person in custody. The inmate ID is used for phone and mail. The booking number may be needed for deposits. A court case number is separate and comes from Maryland court records.

Somerset County Custody Systems
Somerset County inmate records split by custody type. The local jail roster and phone line handle people at SCDC. DPSCS handles people sentenced to state prison, including ECI. BOP and ICE handle federal and immigration custody. Booking Process in Somerset County
Official Somerset pages do not publish a full booking timeline, but the jail function is clear. A person arrested by a local, state, or court agency is transported to SCDC for intake, identification, property handling, medical or mental-health screening, booking number and inmate ID assignment, classification, housing, and access to phone, mail, commissary, and visits. Classification is the jail's process for assigning risk level and housing.
The county brochure says people may be held because they are serving a sentence, cannot post bond, or were ordered held without bond. Bond may not end custody when there is another hold, a state DOC transfer, a federal matter, an ICE issue, probation or parole action, or a no-bond court order. The current county page says incarcerated people receive 30-minute visits, children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, visitors need picture ID, and weather-related or visiting-hour changes should be confirmed by phone. The FAQ bars mini skirts, short shorts, halter tops, bathing suits, tank tops, tube tops, and other revealing clothing staff deem improper.
Contact Somerset County Inmates
SCDC uses PAYTEL for phone accounts. The Detention Center page lists 1-800-729-8355 and paytelconnect.com, and the FAQ says to call 410-651-9223 to obtain the inmate ID. The brochure says inmates may use telephones from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and cannot receive incoming calls.
Personal mail is scanned through the PAYTEL Digital Mail Center and should not be mailed to the physical jail. Address it to Somerset County Detention Center, incarcerated individual's name, Inmate ID, Facility ID 5315, PO Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419. Mail sent to the jail location is returned. The envelope must show a complete sender name and return address, and content rules bar cash, checks, money orders, Polaroids, glued items, and other restricted material.

The county uses Access Corrections for deposits. The FAQ says the service is available online and by mobile app and requires the current booking number. The brochure also describes a lobby kiosk open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding approved county holidays, with a convenience fee and a $300 per inmate per day limit.
